Copper City Rome NY Logo

“Centrally located in New York State, the City of Rome is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. The city boasts an unsurpassed quality of life with year round activities and events. The Adirondacks, New York City, Boston, Niagara Falls, the Thousand Islands, and Canada are all within reach of Rome. Delta Lake State Park sits just north of the city and offers a boat launch, all season fishing, a beach, camping, and trails for walking and cross-country skiing.

History flourishes in Rome, beginning with its important role in the Erie Canal waterway. The first shovel of dirt to start the construction of the Erie Canal was turned on July 4, 1817. The second waterway, the Barge Canal, flows through Rome with Bellamy Harbor Park as its anchor. This area is quickly becoming a much anticipated tour stop for boaters along the canal. Rome is home to Fort Stanwix National Monument which annually receives upwards of 80,000 visitors.

A city proud of its tradition in the wire and copper industries, Rome is also well known for the role it plays in our national defense. The former Griffiss Air Force Base has been transformed into a technology park anchored by the Air Force’s nationally renowned Rome Lab, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service and the Eastern Air Defense Sector protecting our North American skies. The Griffiss Business and Technology Park is growing quickly with business related to cybersecurity, National defense, unmanned aircraft (drones), entrepreneurial ventures related to technology and much more.

The city is host to wonderfully landscaped neighborhoods featuring many different styles of architecture from grand old homes to more modern styles. The city also provides a variety of public parks with walking and hiking trails stretching throughout the city. Our public school system provides a plethora of different educational courses and opportunities for our students to access the tremendous intellectual talent through the businesses at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park.

We hope you will choose Rome as your next place to live and work.”
